Westminster Mall Redevelopment
Westminster Mall was torn down about 4 years ago and for many of us natives it was a little sad to see a bit of history removed. It was apparent that it needed to be redeveloped and we have been looking forward to what may become of the area. Finally it looks as if the first business commitment has been made.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has negotiated and come to agreement with the City of Westminster in developing a 40,000 sq.ft. complex. The theater will be located on the west side of the three- block area developed by Sherman Associates Inc. The project will also include retail and apartment development and a one-block “indoor community market”.
Originally the City of Westminster was working with OliverMcMillian exclusively in redeveloping the mall-site project but decided they wanted to be able to open it up to a variety of developers in order to bring in a vibrant mix of residential, retail and office uses.
This will bring a refreshing and much needed “lift” to downtown Westminster. With its location right off of Hwy 36, hopefully it will bring in much needed traffic from Boulder and Denver. Westminster is perfectly positioned about 20-25 minutes away from both Boulder & Denver. Great area to maybe start looking into for a home purchase….call us if you would like to get pre-approved!
