Free Activities in Denver
The summer is quickly coming to an end, sad to say, and kids are heading back to school in the next few weeks. If you haven’t had a chance to partake in some of the local summer activities, 5280 magazine published a great list of 10 Free Things To Do In Denver for the month of August, all of which start this weekend and again are FREE!
As a mother of 3, it is hard to find inexpensive ways to entertain my children and towards the end of summer I’m exhausted. Between swimming lessons, football camp, rugby games, dance classes, days at the park, birthday parties, maybe a little mini vacation (hasn’t happened yet) and at the end your funds become sparse (or non existent) so finding good free entertainment is always a plus.
If you are needing a little “me” time a great escape is the City Park Jazz, cozy up on a blanket, pack a small picnic basket, and enjoy not only the music but the great scenery (overview of mountains and downtown). Even if the kids won’t let you escape you can bring them! With a few playgrounds, feeding the geese, watching the colorful water fountain, there are plenty of things that will entertain them as well. This is the last weekend to enjoy this so make sure you don’t miss it!
Maybe you haven’t had a chance to escape outdoors like you intended too, its not too late to try and take a hike on one of Colorado’s 14ers! Just remember to start early, clouds can roll in towards the mid morning and/or it gets really hot around noon.
Hopefully this helps give you some ideas and inspiration for finishing out your summer and enjoying what our wonderful community has to offer!
